Before you apply
Uniterra volunteer positions are open to Canadian citizens and landed immigrants. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 70, and be in good medical condition.
Uniterra volunteers are recruited for their professional skills and experience, and the strength of their character. They are motivated to donate their time and expertise to our projects by a desire to contribute to the cause of development. The volunteer is characterized by his or her simple life, ability to adapt and interpersonal qualities. He or she displays clear professional behaviour and openness to different mentalities and lifestyles.
Volunteer postings last from 1 month to two years. Volunteers are not remunerated for their services. They do, however, receive a basic living allowance that is determined according to the cost of living in the host country. For long-term assignments, Uniterra will increase the allowance according to the number of dependents accompanying the volunteer and recognized as such by the programme. In addition to the living allowance, Uniterra covers the volunteers’ travel costs to and from the country of posting, and provides the volunteer with an insurance policy.
