Profile of Selected Volunteers
Uniterra volunteer positions are open to Canadian citizens and landed immigrants only. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 70 and in good health.

Uniterra volunteers are recruited for their professional skills and prior experiences, as well as the strength of their character. They are motivated to donate their time and expertise to our projects with a desire to contribute to development efforts. Volunteers are characterized by their simple lifestyle, ability to adapt and interpersonal qualities. Volunteers must display professional behaviour and openness to different mentalities and lifestyles.

Volunteer Conditions
Volunteer postings last from one month to two years. Volunteers are not paid for their services, but they receive a basic living allowance that is determined according to the cost of living in the host country. For long-term assignments, Uniterra will increase the allowance according to the number of dependents accompanying the volunteer and recognized as such by the program. In addition to the living allowance, Uniterra covers travel expenses to and from the country of assignment and buys insurance for all volunteers.
