City of Montreal
Two employees of the City of Montreal go on a Leave for ChangeIn 2005, The City of Montreal decided to join a pilot project known as Leave for Change, put forward by the international organization Uniterra. This decision demonstrates the City’s desire to participate in the development of international solidarity. It also allows the City’s employees to share their know-how and to have deeply enriching experiences in human terms. The first two missions, each lasting two weeks, took place last November in Dakar, the capital of Senegal. One consisted of taking part in the organization of an international conference, the other in training people on using the Internet and other common software applications. The City employees delegated were Amélie Régis, Communications Officer at the Communications and Citizens Relations Directorate, and Michel Arseneault, a technician specializing in developing office automation applications. In our inaugural dispatch on the subject, Amélie shares a few impressions on her stay in Senegal.
