Intervention Sectors

Our innovative approach reaches several sectors

Basic education: Our partners focus on education for girls, adult literacy  women, men, youth and drop-outs), capacity building and basic professional training, such as the Forum of Niamey on informal education.

Health and nutrition: We support projects for clean drinking water, education about nutrition, food safety, health and sexuality as well as facilitating, community health-care system and local governance.

HIV and AIDS:
Uniterra works with partners whose projects assist people affected with HIV/AIDS - orphans, those living
with HIV, or caring for someone who has de virus. These organisations also promote HIV awareness and education, prevention campaigns, improvement in access to services (medical, paramedical, social, etc.) and staff training.More information on our participation in Toronto

Economic development: This sector is divided into three sub-sectors: rural agriculture and development, fair trade, and social economy. To help fight poverty, our partners strive to engage as many people as possible to directly produce goods and services for which there is a commercially viable demand. The income earned from mass participation in the creation of wealth will help revive local economies. The importance of local capacity building

We support local partners operating in target countries, allowing for the engagement of existing skills in developing countries.
Our cooperation programme is based on partnership with civilian society in an integrated approach to development.
The programme also provides a network that energizes local capacity building. In addition to dispatching volunteers to work with these organizations, we conduct other activities to advance our partners' autonomous aims.
To cite examples: we have facilitated participation from partners at world meetings in their specific sectors. We have also collaborated with partners, in Canadian fora, to boost public awareness of the rocky road of international development.
