Program Overview
Acting together to reduce poverty
Uniterra is an international cooperation programme mobilizing partners, volunteers, and the Canadian public to reduce world poverty by 50%, by 2015.
We foster partnerships between organisations and networks in Canada and in the South. We support the mobilization of communities so that they may actively participate in determining development orientations and exercise positive influence on their political leaders and governmental structures.
In Canada, we mobilize the Canadian population in favour of international cooperation and the attaining of the Millennium Development Goals. This challenge requires the participation of every sector in society, both here and on every continent.
Partners
On the ground, Uniterra collaborates with networks of local partners, leaders in their sector of intervention. These partners identify areas for collaborations with organisations at a local, national, and international level.
Uniterra allows exchanges of expertise, knowledge, and know-how, in a multidirectional way, between Southern partners and Canadian organisations willing to contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.
We strengthen the capacities of partner organizations in developing countries to successfully conduct their social and economic development initiatives
Volunteers
Our volunteers are professionals who wish to get involved in poverty reduction through concrete actions with our Southern partners.
In collaboration with our partners, volunteers take action to contribute to local development initiatives.
All Uniterra volunteers take part in sensitizing, educating, and mobilising Canadians towards achieving the MDGs.
Campus
We mobilise youth on campus and colleges towards reaching the MDGs through education, advocacy, and volunteering.
