A decisive stage for success in life

Adolescence is a period during which the dreams and aspirations of future adults take shape. The identity of adolescents is largely formed by the values they choose to adopt and the ideas that will guide the main decisions they will make throughout their social, economic and personal lives.

Developing countries, very much preoccupied by questions of food safety and basic infrastructure, have had few resources to devote to mentoring their youth. Left to fend for themselves, adolescents and young adults often lack direction as well as projects through which they can express themselves and acquire the skills they need to contribute to their communities.

Political instability and urban threats are also destabilizing factors and contribute to the emergence of a sub-culture that is often marked by violence and delinquency. Street gangs proliferate in social contexts where there lack the means of communication necessary to participate in the life of the community.

A presence in Guatemala

e are in the process of implementing a youth project in Guatemala , in Central America. The long civil war that ended in 1996 had traumatic consequences for the population, especially for youth. We support employment and business training by helping organizations that seek to create employment and other opportunities for young people.
