World Youth Congress

ReGeneration 2008
From August 10 to 12, Laval University hosted ReGeneration 2008, the Canadian version of the World Youth Congress, which brought together 500 youth from 110 countries.

The World Youth Congress was particularly important to Uniterra. The program promoted the involvement of youth partners from Latin America, Africa, Asia. It also included young Canadians and Africans who are continually involved on their campuses. This experience allowed them to share their knowledge with youth from around the world and to become more engaged in their communities. In addition, the Chantier de l’économie sociale du Québec participated in ReGeneration and offered workshops as well as organized an evening networking event.

World Youth Walk
On August 12, Uniterra is very proud to have hosted the World Youth Walk. Engaged artist Luck Mervil launched this Walk organized for the United Nations' International Youth Day.  Hundreds of youth and adults walked across Quebec City to honour outstanding youth involvement around the world. The Walk ended with a big outdoor concert in the old Quebec city.

Evening event on social economy

The Chantier de l’économie sociale is an active partner of Uniterra in Quebec. As part of ReGeneration 2008, the Chantier entered in partnership with Uniterra to enable 10 youth from developing countries who are involved in social economy to attend the Congress and participate by giving workshops. Following the Congress, these youth participated in a week of training and visit social economy organizations in Montreal.
