In Agriculture and Rural Development in Bolivia

The camelidae sector (mainly llamas and alpacas) has great promise in Bolivia. Uniterra's partners are engaged in activities to consolidate this sector and to strengthen the development of fair trade in products derived from raising these animals.
BOLIVIA IN FIGURES
Population: 9 million (CIDA, 2004)
Area: 1,099,000 km2
Gross National Income per capita: $890 US (UNICEF)
Life expectancy at birth: 64 years

Along with Paraguay, Bolivia is the only landlocked country in South America. It is the most geographically isolated country on the South American continent.

Agriculture is an activity of primary importance for the Bolivian economy. It employs practically half of the labour force and accounts for about 15% of GDP (CIDA).

IN THE FIELD

We offer support services to producers (production, credit, and marketing) and provide assistance to cooperatives and the agro-industry processing sector.

Social tourism in indigenous communities, handicrafts and community economic development also figure among our local priorities.
