Overview

On campus, Uniterra supports local committees and youth groups that mobilize to participate in the fulfilment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) through education activities, advocacy and voluntary cooperation.

Uniterra offers students and faculty opportunities to learn about international cooperation, participate in int ernational internships and exchanges, lobby for Canadian assistance that fosters the development of the least favoured countries, and participate in concrete solidarity actions that fight poverty in the world.

In 2000, the international community committed to this goal by ratifying the Millennium Development Goals (MDG). It is in this context that WUSC allied itself with CECI to create Uniterra. Through this joint initiative, the two organizations mobilize citizens and organizations from Canada and 13 developing countries to make the MDG vision a reality. WUSC Local Committees are part of this exciting initiative and will be able to play an active role to achieve the MDGs by volunteering abroad, advocating in Canada, raising awareness, promoting fair trade and supporting meaningful projects overseas.

Through their actions on campus and in their communities, young people contribute to sensitizing and educating the Canadian public about the realities of life for people in developing countries, and they promote international solidarity.

Uniterra fosters the sharing and exchange of knowledge and know-how that enables its members and affiliated networks on campus to enhance their knowledge of international development issues and coordinate initiatives for the building of a fairer, more equitable world, one of greater solidarity. Uniterra supports the activities of the network of WUSC local committees.

Uniterra contributes to the activities of WUSC Local Committee network
