Vietnam Results Statement
10 partner organisations have increased their capacities through the program. In total, 59 volunteers, including 37 women, worked 5,190 person-days and 7,966 people, including 67% women, acquired new skills in the areas of teaching, training the trainers, the integration of gender equality, and communications.

As a result of this increased capacity, the quality of teaching in community colleges and vocational and technical training schools was improved, with the goal of allowing young people to improve their employability. Specifically, this goal is being achieved by teacher training, the adoption of new teaching methods and of curricula which respond to market demands. Altogether, 7,800 students received training in communication, team work, conflict resolution, interpersonal competencies, information technologies and interview techniques.
Close to 1,000 teachers have acquired new teaching methodologies and over 80% use these methods to teach their classes. Finally, the community colleges of Vinh Long, Binh Thuan, Hai Phong, Hanoï and Ha Tay have adapted their curricula to better respond the labour market’s demands.
For example, in Hanoi, the Hoa Sua School for disadvantaged youth trains 750 young people annually in the tourism and service sectors and so far has had a 100% placement of its graduates. One hundred of them now own their own hotels or restaurants. The Hoa Sua School has developed an innovative model that responds to the needs of the tourism and services sector, while providing professional education free of charge, including practical links with local businesses. As a result, this project contributes directly to improving the quality of life of disadvantaged youth. Since 2008, 9 Uniterra volunteers have supported the Hoa Sua School.
