30 years of WUSC worth celebrating! Dalhousie University's Local Committee Symposia Event

Dalhousie's WUSC Local Committee takes on health, education, equality and refugee rights on campus during this year's International Development Week! Join their 2012 Uniterra Symposia Event held this Sunday February 5.
"30 years of history and the Millenium Development Goals"
Dalhousie's Local Committee aims to educate students in the Halifax area about WUSC (World University Service of Canada), the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) and international development work done by students and staff on campus. They will be highlighting an impressive 30 years of WUSC presence at Dalhousie University. Join the celebration and partake to interesting debates!
The Uniterra Symposia Event will focus focusing on current development issues such as health, refugee education and rights as well as gender equality. WUSC speakers include a current and former sponsored student (1993-1994) of the Student Refugee Program (SRP).
Guest speakers include Dr. Mendez speaking on narrowing the gap of inequality with remote presence medicine with examples from his work in Bolivia, Dr. McMillian speaking on child health with examples from his work in Uganda, Dr. Huish speaking on thinking of the MDGs closer to home using examples from his work in Nunavut and Shiva Nourpanah, a former UNHCR case worker speaking about refugee rights and gender equality using examples from her time in Iran working with Afghan women.
